Healing Blues & Choccy browns!

Hi Peeps!

How did everyone’s Halloween turn out?  The kids from our street did well, and for 30 mins or so, our door was being knocked at, we were ‘scared’ at what faced us when we opened it…my hubby moaned at every kid telling them not to take all the sweets as he wanted some himself!!  Big kid! hehe

On to today’s card – this little beauty (well, to me it is) was made lovingly last night & it’s especially for my Mum – her last radiotherapy treatment is today & we want to let her know how proud we are of her & that she has walked another journey in battle.  It’s only a small acknowledgement of what she has been through. She has had a hard time – she hated the inconvenience of having to go every day for treatment and those 3 weeks she went were an eternity to her…but hey! IT’S OVER!!! YAY TO MY MUM!!!!

OK, I am going to enter this card into
& the theme for this month’s challenge is:

'BROWN & BLUE'

And the project can be a card, scrapbook page of a 3D project & the prize is a Kanban goody bag!

What cha waiting for?….ENTER THE CHALLENGE!!

Until next time...

Mandy :)

Happy Birthday, Bryan!

Birthday Wishes just for you, Bryan!

I am entering this card in to the challenge over at Emma’s Crafty Challenge.

Card template & papers (& a few odd bits from my crafty stash) used are from Kanban’s So Masculine’ kit. My very new favourite kit (… I say that to ALL Kanban’s kits)! There is such a variety of choice in this kit 'specially as it's sometimes difficult to come up with ideas for men's cards!

It's a beautiful day here in Essex - sun is shining !  I'm going to put this beautiful day to use and do some crafting housework. (yeah, right, pfftt)

Hope your day is as nice where ever you are!

Until next time...

Mandy :)

Think Pink...

Afternoon Crafty bloggers! Today I would like to share my card I made for Breast Cancer awareness.  I found a new blog today by a lady called Dawn – please click on the link to read her story.  She & I both have Mother’s going through breast cancer treatment. You can enter Dawn’s challenge to raise money for this very worthy cause.  This is very close to my heart after losing an Aunt to cancer, having my Daughter go through cancer and now my Mother having had a double mastectomy and having radiotherapy treatment.  I know that this awful disease touches many of our lives.

I would like to add this card into the following challenges:

Dawn's crafting -Think Pink

Please leave a comment, I would love to hear from you!

Until next time...

crafty hugs,

Mandy :)

Boo Boo be do!

Hope all is good & well in your neck of the woods?

I had a request to make a Betty Boop Birthday card for a customer’s Mother & I must say I enjoyed putting this one together. I love black & red combination & along with 'blinging' the card up with my red gems, Betty was coloured with Promarkers and then red glitter glue added to her dress & shoes.  The little white flowers come from Polkadoodles & the red & black flowers came from my stash.  For the sentiment, I used the stamps from Crafter’s Companion.

I’m slowly getting back into the swing of crafting again in between helping my other sisters with taking care of Mum.  She starts her radiotherapy next week.  Here’s hoping that the rads kills the five nodes that are left with cancer in.  We have learnt now that Mum has an aggressive cancer that WILL return anywhere in her body.  She’s a strong minded lady so I know she will put up a fight!

Keep well,
Until next time,

Mandy J

MIA

Good Morning!

Wow, it's been a while, huh?
What with a spell of illness & a house move there hasn't been much time for any craftiness :-/
However, this card above is one I made for Hubby's birthday in July. We both love lighthouses & this lighthouse digi stamp came from Sweet n Sassy Stamps - I coloured with my promarkers & fleximarkers, added some twine (coloured with PM's) & used some scrap papers from stash & included a sentiment made in word! Hubby loved his card I'm pleased to say!
Well....
Things are improving healthwise, the new house is looking good and the icing on the cake will be when I can get back to making cards! Unfortunately, everything craft wise is still packed up :-(  I'm itching to unpack but until hubby can create my little crafting area the boxes remain packed :-/
I've not had a chance much to catch up with blogs either as we have Mother here with us - recovering from surgery.  She had a double mastectomy a week ago and she is amazingly coping & dealing with her pain levels really well. Tuesday she gets results as to whether the cancer is gone.
I have been sharing the crafting world of card making blogs with her, which brought me to reading about Marcea's Thank you candy! If you haven't already, pop over and have a look at her wonderful work :-)
Well, once things are up & back to 'normal' I plan on blogging & resuming my card making addiction!!
Until then......

Look what's coming....

I've heard exciting news from Crafter's Companion News Blog!

EEK!

If you are a fan of Nigel May's 'A-MAY-ZING' ALL KINDS OF EVERYTHING CD ROM - then this week sees the launch of his NEW 'AMAZING craft into Christmas CD!!!  There are stamps too - I can't wait! It will be launching on Create & Craft on Tuesday 19th June! I will definitely be watching!  Crafter's Companion  have created a blog badge to celebrate the launch & they are inviting you to put the badge either on your blog or your Facebook page.  When you have done so, pop back here & enter your link to your blog or FB page by using their Mister Linky before 9am next Tuesday 19th June and you could be in with a chance of winning the whole craft into Christmas range! All details are on their blog.

 How exciting is that?

I've been visiting the DT's blogs and loved seeing what they have done using the stamps and papers from his CD!

If you love Nigel's stuff then go take a look at the design teams blogs listed on Crafter's Companion blog!

Now b r e a t h...

Okay, onto my little card now - I've had a play about with my free stamps from Simply cards & Papercraft magazine - stamps are by Teddy Bo & Co. I had not an easy time as I had a headache from hell but convinced myself to carry on as by doing so I thought it would relax me...Didn't quite work out that way and I wasn't happy with how everything looked. My colouring has a lot to be desired & I'm still learning!  I'm happier than I was with the card, but still feel something is missing...hey ho!

Here's my crafty ingredients:

Teddy Bo & Co stamp & papers
White card stock to stamp on
Nellie's Multi Frame die
Promarker pens: Cocoa, Dusky pink & Satin
Embossing folder from Crafter's Companion Beatrix Potter range
Blue ribbon & button from own stash
Doodled with my Blue Jelly roll Sekura pen
All mixed & matted & layered with peachy & blue card from stash
Left to dry and...
 VOILA!

Here it is!

Like I say, not completely happy with it but showing it all the same.  Oh, forgot to mention, I ruffled my ribbon up by running a stitch through and pulled it together to make a little rosette type thingy - then added a star button with a little bit of twine which I coloured with my peach Promarker.

Thanks for dropping by, any imput/advice, please don't hold back ;-)

Until next time...

Mandy :)

Embellishy Teddy!

This is my entry for the Crafters Companions challenge this month, which is Time To Embellish!

I have used my new 'Meadow Cottage bears' from Crafter's Companion by Christine Haworth.
I've embellished my card with as much as I think it needed without overdoing it! What do you think?

This is a beautiful CD Rom - if you've not had a chance to purchase it & have a look through it, I recommend that you do, such a lot you can do with these great images!

I haven't been around much this month - although I have been busy card making -  in between not feeling too good with my fibro flare up  - plus having to organise a Diamond Jubilee Street Party, which after all the arrangements and setting up, went really, really well.  I have a fantastic Hubby, family and neighours who pulled together to make this a great event!

Right, off to take a look around some crafty blogs...

Until next time,

Mandy :)
