Napkin Decoupage

Afternoon lovely peeps :)

Kinda been missing on blogger for a while - have been busy with new projects & not blogging about them - until now!  Here is one of the new projects I have tried - and I must say, although it's not a quick project, I thoroughly enjoyed putting it all together.

It's a plain memory type box with window in which I have sanded back and then painted with Gesso (sp?) - it took three coats until I was happy with it.  I then painted the inside with green acrylic paint - I didn't want it looking too perfect, so used my paint dabber to sponge the paint over and leaving some of the underneath white paint to come through - kinda distressed but not quite, if you know what I mean! Once dry I then took my chosen napkin & cut out the flowers that I wanted & then arranged it over the front & side of the box until I was happy with the design.  Then came the messy/tricky/sticky bit...I painted slap-it-on over the box & placed  each one layer of napkin down & then brushed slap-it-on again.  Well, the result is below for  you to see...let me tell you, I wasn't totally happy with the end result as when I varnished over the whole of the box (inside too) I noticed when dried that I'd got a few 'bumpy' bits of varnish.  I had to let it dry completely before sanding back again & re-varnishing. Whilst waiting for that to dry I then stamped out the letters to spell out Mum, painted them with the same acrylic  green paint (as used in the inside) & waited for them to dry before applying them to the dry varnished box.

So, What do you think, not bad for a first attempt? I can definitely see room for improvement and that will come with experience! I plan on making another one very soon for my Sister's birthday.

I made some small cards for the inside of the box & then wrapped it all up for a gift for my Mother's birthday & I am so happy to say she was thrilled with her gift! She kept stroking her hand over the box & shaking her head, saying she couldn't believe I had made it!  She also loved all the cards inside.  I was so chuffed!!

So, that's all for now.  I'm glad to say I have got around to visiting blogs but seriously, you guys blog so much LOL I can't keep up with you all!

I'd like to enter my project into the following challenges:

Merry Christmas, to one & all :)

Hi to my little Crafty Christmas Crackers! :-)

I hope you're all ready for Christmas? I am! Just! Don't know quite how, but so glad I am...I've had this nasty, coldy, coughy, sore-throaty thingy that everyone seems to have had lately - & I've felt really rough for over a week!   I thank my darling children & hubby for sharing their germs with me! And, to put the Christmas icing on the cake, so to speak, my fatigue/fibro has kicked in big & proper...to quote a Christmas song....'Oh, it's the most wonderful time of the year.....! lol

Anyho-ho (see what I did there?) - this is my last post of 2013 - I shall leave you all with a last card of this year...a white on white Christmas card to my Mother!  I have loved making the white on white cards but I am so looking forward to seeing colour in my cards next year!

Christmas!

Good Morning, Crafty Peeps!

An early entry for me! Well, a scheduled post so I could still be snoozing away! lol

I was busy yesterday, making more Xmas cards from my Hunkydory kit - I will show pics of them on another post.  I have also been creating some 'white on white' Christmas cards, along with these cards below.  I am trying my 'less is more' which is hard when you're naturally an 'over the top' card maker LOL.  The inside of these cards have the same embossed Centura Pearl matching coloured card inside and the same die cut as on the fronts to write message on plus a small stamped 'Happy Christmas'  sentiment.  I'm going with with no sentiments on the front, just letting the cards 'speak for themselves'!

Ingredients:

Christmas Tree die (free with a magazine)
Cosmic shimmer for pearls.
Happy Christmas stamp (from stash)

So, that's today's post done (rubs hands together), I'm off for a scoot round blog land to see what wonderful creations you've been making whilst drinking my cupper (which I will be doing, I promise - it's a habit thing lol) and then on to more card making!

Have a great day!

Until next time,

Easel (ly) made!

Good Morning Crafters!

Hope everyone's day has got off to a good start? Mine has, I am actually sitting at my craft desk as we 'speak' making the last of my Christmas cards (as well as blogging this!)

My little make today is here...& it's from Hunkydory's Stylish Season Luxury card collection.  I was fortunate to buy these kits when they were on Create & Craft, along with the inserts.  They really are beautiful & the artwork gorgeous.  I have ended up with two lots of these as about a month later I won the WHOLE set in a competition!

I measured, cut, layered & stuck & ended up with this little creation!

Ingredients:

1 dark blue easel card base
Card, inserts & toppers from Hunkydory's Stylish Luxury Collection kit
Snowflakes from my snowflake punch

Beautiful kit to use!
